When dissolved in concentrated sulfuric acid, it yields a brown-orange solution that turns green when diluted with water. When heated to 130° with glycerine triacetate and an excess of acetic anhydride, acety- lation of its phenolic hydroxyl group causes a color change from green to light blue.Fast Green FCF is regularly used in beverages, desserts (puddings, ice cream, sherbet), candy, bakery goods, dairy products, and maraschino cherries. The color is also used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and histological stains.1 .
